Focus Fire

Win the fight by choosing who dies first.

Most fights are decided by what your units shoot. Focus Fire gives you a squad and an enemy that a plain attack-move loses to: healers that undo damage spread around, sappers that wipe a squad, riders that kill whatever they reach. You win by choosing the targets.

What it trains

Each round an enemy takes the field, then your riflemen come up with their backs to the edge. A volley that does not kill is healed back, so every rifle goes on one target; shots at a unit already dying are wasted, so no more rifles than it takes. Then the order: what would kill the squad first, not what is nearest. Rounds come as fast as you clear them, bigger each time, so it trains reading a fight and right-clicking the right unit at speed.

The situation

Each round an enemy takes the field, then a fresh squad of riflemen comes up with its back to the edge: riflemen with healers, sappers, riders. What wins is what your rifles shoot, and how many of them.

Scoring

A round cleared pays each enemy at its cost, -1 per hit point you lost in it. A squad down to less than half is pulled out and its round starts again. Rounds come as fast as you clear them.

How to play it

  • Right-click an enemy to set the selection on it; Shift queues the next target.
  • A volley that does not kill is healed back: every rifle on one. A shot at the dead is lost: no more than it takes.
  • Shoot first what would kill the squad, not what is nearest.
